Lamar Jackson started his career as a freshman at Louisville. The Ravens activated Jackson’s fifth-year option on 30 April 2021, for $23 million guaranteed in 2022. Jackson had COVID-19 around training camp, his second illness.
Jackson had 235 passing yards, 86 rushing yards, and a throwing touchdown against the Raiders in Week 1, but the Ravens lost 27–33 in overtime.
