Abhishek Jha is an Indian entrepreneur. He hit the headlines in May 2022 when he and his wife, Pooja Singhal, a 2000 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, were arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials soon after an official raid was conducted at their home for Pooja Singhal’s involvement in the illegal mining in Ranchi. After the interrogation, Abhishek was captured jumping the walls to escape the media trials.

Abhishek Jha was born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He completed his graduation from Xavier College, and later, he went to Australia to pursue an MBA degree.

Relationship with Pooja Singhal

When Abhishek was studying MBA in Australia, he met Pooja Singhal on a social media site. Soon after he returned to India after completing his studies, they together joined a gym in Ranchi and started meeting each other frequently. Later, Abhishek Jha started visiting Pooja Singhal at her office with bouquets when Pooja Singhal was appointed as the DC of Palamu, and gradually, they became good friends. Reportedly, during this time, Pooja Singhal was already married to an IAS officer named Rahul Purwar. 

Involvement in Corruption

On 22 May 2022, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted a raid at Pooja Singhal’s home and around 20 crore cash was recovered by them. Pooja Singhal’s chartered accountant (CA), Suman Kumar Singh, and husband, Abhishek Jha, were interrogated by ED after a huge amount of cash was recovered from their house. During the raids, Abhishek Jha and his wife were also found guilty of hiding the documents related to the illegal mining case. Soon after the raid, Abhishek Jha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate officials. He was allowed to go home after twelve hours of interrogation. After leaving the ED office, Abhishek Jha tried to escape the media reporters by climbing the walls of the neighbouring house. He took his car from this house and went home. Despite his efforts, he was captured by some media reporters.

Kameshwar Jha, the father of Abhishek Jha, is a former Bihar government officer. According to some media sources, a luxurious residential home in the name of Kameshwar Jha came into the limelight soon after Pooja Singhal’s name appeared on several corruption charges.
