It’s hilarious. In my first scene with her for Shapath, she had to tie a rakhi on my hand. I had to wear it the following day, too, for continuity. Every time the assistant director came to me with the rakhi, she would insist on tying it herself, hinting that was just what it was.I was trying to be pally with her, while she tried to keep me at bay with the sisterly act. I could not refuse it as I was very close to Ravi Chopra. I did a a lot of projects with him. After being part of Baghban, people actually thought that I am a matured man and I started getting roles of only dads post that.” [5]

Controversies

Accused of casting couch

In March 2005, the news channel India TV launched a show ‘India’s Most Wanted’ which conducted a sting operation that exposed Aman Verma claiming that he and many other established celebrities in the Bollywood and Indian TV industries misused their position to force young women for sexual pleasures. The channel telecasted the video live in which Aman was seen talking to a model about sexual favours in return for a promising role in the television industry. Aman’s character was disgraced and he stopped getting any sort of work for the next few years. Aman filed a criminal complaint against India TV, alleging that the channel which aired the sting operation wanted to blackmail and extort money from him. [7] In an interview, talking about his innocence in the case, Aman said,

I am in this industry for more than eight years. I have worked hard to achieve all these things. I have never used anyone in my life, and will never do so. Ruchi was calling me to her hotel but I refused. I called her to my home. If I had some wrong intentions, then I would have called her at night. I called her at 3:30 in the afternoon, and at 3:45, I had to leave for another shoot. I appeal to the public that they should discourage the motives of such people so that my name should not be tarnished in such a manner.” [8]

Ousted from a television show

In 2015, Aman Verma was ousted from the television show ‘Hum Ne Li Hai Shapath’ by the channel and makers of the show for his inappropriate behaviour on the sets. As per the sources, his behaviour and tantrums caused inconvenience to the cast and crew members, so the decision of replacing him was taken.

Cobrapost Sting Operation

In 2019, an undercover sting operation ‘Cobrapost’ was launched which secretly recorded conversations to show how bribes can manipulate the functioning of the Indian political parties. One of the victims of this operation was Aman Verma who accepted the offer to endorse a political party in favour of a lumpsum amount.
