Career

Chethana appeared in various Kannada TV serials like ‘Geetha’ (2020) and ‘Doresaani’ (2021). She also acted in a few Kannada films.

Death

On 16 May 2022, she visited a clinic named Dr. Shetty’s Cosmetic Surgery Center, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka, for liposuction surgery. Post-surgery, she started facing various complications and fluid started accumulating in her lungs. Her surgery was performed by the anaesthetist Melvin and his team of doctors. The team then took Chethana to Kaade Hospital Unit, Bengaluru, Karnataka, and asked the doctors there to treat Chethana like a cardiac arrest patient. She was given CPR at Kaade Hospital, but she could not survive. In a police complaint, the ICU intensivist of Kaade Hospital Dr Sandeep said,

Chethana was declared dead at 6.45 pm. The doctors at Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre were aware that Chethana had already passed away.”

When reporters talked to Chethana’s father about the incident, he said,

My daughter was hale and hearty. She was absolutely fine. She had gone to hospital with her friends. Someone has suggested to her that she had more fat in the waist and without consulting any family member she had come for the surgery. I will initiate legal action against hospital authorities.”

While talking to the reporters, her mother said,

Shetty clinic is the cause of my daughter’s death. They told us we don’t have an ICU, please take her to Kede Hospital for ICU after 4 pm. They took her inside at 9 am Well, he didn’t tell us anything. Whenever we asked him about the surgery, he told us it would be 5 minutes or 30 minutes and kept dragging it. Eventually he told us it happened.”
