Damiano David started his career as a vocalist for their local brand.
David was born in Rome to Daniele and Rosa Scognamiglio. His parents’ employment exposed him and his older brother Jacopo to several cultures at a young age.
He was a talented point guard for the local club Eurobasket Roma until he was 17. He recalls how basketball taught him the discipline required for life success.
David started singing at six. He met Victoria De Angelis and Thomas Raggi while in high school, and they formed Mneskin. He dropped out of Rome’s liceo linguistico Eugenio Montale to pursue a singing career with his parents’ help.
He was first rejected as a vocalist in their local band owing to his “too pop” style, but his tenacity got him admitted. After learning to express himself openly, David immediately changed his attitude and manner, especially on stage.
The band began in 2016 as street performers in Rome but earned fame in 2017 after winning second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor.
The band released their first album Il ballo della vita in 2017 and toured in 2018 and 2019. Teatro d’ira: Vol. It was published in 2021.
After winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, he was falsely accused of drug use. David, like his bandmates, has never misused narcotics. “We are not subscribing to the image of the intoxicated and drug-addicted rock star,” David told Vogue Italia. “Tying ourselves to something that instead makes us dependant, slaves,” he adds, contradicting the 27 Club.
In the 2021 film Cruella, David performed “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and played Jeffrey, the antagonist’s assistant.
