Farid Karachiwala was born in Mumbai. In 1993, he did his schooling at The New Era High School, Panchgani, Maharashtra. In 2000, he pursued BLS and LLB, a five-year course, at Government Law College, Mumbai. Since childhood, Farid desired to become a solicitor. While attending college, he worked in his father’s law office which eventually helped him.

Relationships/Affairs

Farid came into a relationship with TV actress Rakhi Vijan. They met through a common friend. In 2021, Rakhi and Farid planned to get married; however, due to the sudden demise of Rakhi’s father, the marriage got postponed.

Career

As a Solicitor

In 2006, he was hired by Wadia Ghandy, which is one of the oldest law firms in India. Later, he became a partner in the firm. In 2012, Farid, with one of his partners from Wadia Ghandy, opened a law office in Delhi. Furthermore, he became on record advocate of the supreme court of India in 2012. He represented the central government in a case against Reliance and other companies regarding the KG-D6 gas case that lasted for almost four years. In 2018, Farid joined as a partner in J. Sagar Associates, a leading national law firm in India. Farid specializes in corporate, commercial litigation and arbitration and appears regularly for banks and business houses. He has handled dispute matters for Banks and business houses, in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Goa, Lucknow, Kolkata and Bangalore as well. He has also represented both the State Government and Central Government in international commercial arbitrations in London, and proceedings before the High Court and the Supreme Court of India. In July 2020, Farid became a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa as an advocate. In January 2002, he became a member of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society as a solicitor.

In Real Estate

With extensive experience in handling real estate transactions, Farid investigates titles and drafts documents. He regularly advises business houses and realtors in all aspects of real estate transactions and strategises the acquisition and sale of immovable property. Farid also advises on special laws relating to the redevelopment of societies and slum rehabilitation. His clients include some of the top banks and high-net individuals, who have engaged him on issues relating to townships, acquisition of agricultural land, setting up townships, slum rehabilitation, and social development and have advised clients in some of the most complex real estate and conveyancing transactions. Farid also advises in succession planning and general advice relating to various laws in India.
