Operation Ganga

During Operation Ganga, from 27 February 2022 to 7 March 2022, Mahasweta Chakraborty flew six flights from India to Ukraine and back under a special military operation of India soon after Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 22022. Reportedly, Mahasweta Chakraborty flew Airbus A320 for 13 to 14 hours a day. She rescued more than 800 Indian students from the border of Ukraine, Poland, and Hungary. In a conversation with a media house, Mahasweta Chakraborty narrated her rescue operation experience in March 2022. She said,

It was the experience of a lifetime, rescuing those students in their late teens and early twenties, many of whom had fallen sick and had traumatizing tales of survival.”

Mahasweta Chakraborty added that she was feeling proud to be a part of Operation Ganga Mission. She said,

I salute their fighting spirit and am extremely proud of having played my part in their journey back home.”

Mahasweta Chakraborty continued that she received a call late at night on 26 February 2022 from her employer company who told her that she was selected for an Indian rescue operation amid the Russia-Ukraine war. Mahasweta Chakraborty said that she then left for the rescue mission within two hours after the call.

Vande Bharat Mission

During the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Mahasweta Chakraborty was a part of the Vande Bharat mission, which was started by the government of India to repatriate Indians who were stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 lockdown started in India 0n 7 May 2020. Amid this mission, Mahasweta Chakraborty was given the responsibility to flew oxygen concentrators from abroad to India. She also carried the COVID-19 vaccines to Kolkata from Pune airports.
