Career

Manjusha Neogi was passionate about modelling since childhood. She started participating in modelling events at a very young age. She did a number of modelling projects with brands like amazon and became one of the most popular models of the Bengali film industry. Later, she also stepped in the field of acting and started portraying small cameo role in television serials.

Death

On May 25, 2022, the model was discovered dead at her family’s home in Kolkata’s Patuli neighbourhood. Manjusha Neogi, a well-known figure in bridal make-up shoots, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan when neighbours broke down the door to her leased flat in Nagerbazar. According to the investigating cop,

At 7.30 am today, a report was received at Patuli police station that a 26-year-old married woman had committed suicide by hanging in Vaishnavghat Colony. In the morning when her aunt opened the door, They found Manjusha hanging from the fan. With the help of police, her body was removed from there and taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead. After investigation it was found that Manjusha Niyogi got married in November 2021. She had a good relationship with her husband Ramnath Ashish Banerjee. She was staying at her parents’ house for a few days now. According to her mother, She was suffering from severe depression following the death of her buddy De Majumdar. Manjusha and Bidisha had been pals for three years and had appeared in modest roles in Bengali TV serials together. her mother stated,

She was extremely upset and acutely depressed after hearing about Bidisha’s death, and would often say that Bidisha had gone to a better place. I would do the same, Manjusha had said after Bidisha’s death.”

She also added,

On Wednesday, my son-in-law had come here to pick her up, but she wanted to stay with us for some more time. There was no issue between them. My son-in-law would even tell my daughter to quit modelling as he earns well, but she used to tell him that modelling was her passion. My son-in-law never objected to her work.”

According to her relatives, Manjusha went to the shoot on Thursday despite her mental state. After she got home, she ate her favourite jaggery shrimp. Manjusha’s mother stated that her daughter afterwards talked suicide with her. Manjusha’s mother reprimanded the model for doing so. She indicated that the daughter had no issues with her husband.

According to an industry source, Manjusha Neogi has been suffering from depression for quite some time. He also stated that Bidisha’s death was not the catalyst for her suicide, as she had tried suicide two months before to Bidisha’s death. She stated,

She had even attempted suicide about two and a half months ago when Bidisha was alive. So, how can Bidisha’s death be the reason behind her suicide? This means that she had suicidal tendencies and her family should have been conscious about it.”

Priyanka Saha, Manjusha’s aunt, remarked that Manjusha was a good girl who was oblivious that she did not meet everyone since she had a hard head. On our way back after filming the night beforw, we wandered around the neighborhood. On the third floor, a youth is sitting next to him, taking him in his lap. “Who is this Auntie?” he queried. So I told him he lived next door. I asked if she planned to stay or go home with her husband in the evening. “Yes, we will stay for 2-3 days,” she replied, smiling. I was talking to her on a regular basis at the time, and at 6 a.m., his mother arrived and informed me that she had committed suicide.
