Mohan Juneja (1967-2022) was an Indian actor, who was known for his work in Kannada and Telugu film industries.

Mohan Juneja was born in  1967 (age 46 years; as of 2020) in Tumkur, Karnataka. He kept changing his schools because his family kept relocating due to the nature of his father’s job. He did his higher education at Bengaluru. He started doing theatre during his school days, following which he joined a drama school to understand the minute details of theatre and acting. In an interview, Mohan disclosed,

My father wanted me to become an engineer like him, but I was poor at studies.”

Career

Film

He debuted in Kannada films with Shankar Nag’s Kannada film Wall Poster in 1989. He played comic roles as well as the antagonist roles not only in Kannada and Telugu films but also in various Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam films as well. Some of his worth mentioning films include Chellata, Lakshmi (2018), Snehitharu (2012), and Koko (2012). In 2013, he became a part of a total of 5 films which include Pade Pade, Brindavanam, Kumbha Rashi, and Sweety. He did a cameo in Prashanth Neel‘s KGF: Chapter 1 and its sequel KGF: Chapter 2, which earned him an appreciation for his dialogue delivery.

He acted in over a hundred films in his career and shared the screen with celebrities such as Puneeth, Darshan, Ambareesh, Upendra, and Shivarajkumar. Apart from films, Mohan made his presence felt on the television too. He had featured in several TV serials, including Nagathihalli Chandrashekar’s Vitara, which became a huge success and ran for over 1000 episodes. This serial made him a household name and gave him the opportunity to make an identity which he always wanted. In an interview, he said,

It ran for over 1000 episodes and my role of Parandhama finally gave me an identity.”

Death

Reportedly, the actor was suffering from a prolonged illness related to his liver. He was admitted in a private hospital in Bengaluru for treatment, where he took his last breath on Saturday, 7 May 2022. Confirming to news of Mohan Juneja’s demise, Hombale Films tweeted to express condolences for the actor.

Facts/Trivia

  • While learning theatre at his drama school, he also learnt the basics of doing make-up.
  • According to a media report, he was passionate about movies since childhood and watched at least 3 movies in a day.
  • Juneja also wrote dialogues for films. In an interview, he said,

    I used to write dialogues at the night and act in the day. However, I continued to struggle to get an identity.”

  • He wrote the popular dialogue in KGF,
