Neha started professional singing when she was very young, probably four years old. She used to sing bhajans at various events till the age of 12. She has said that it was a great learning experience for her.
In 2006 she participated in the Indian singing reality show ‘Indian Idol’. She got eliminated from the show but since she was you get contestant she was able to get a lot of love from everyone there. Post her elimination; she could not get any work in the Indian film industry for almost five years. Neha has claimed that her inability to flatter the judges on the show was a big reason behind her lagging behind for work. During this time she mainly focused on stage shows and traveled around the world.
In 2008, Neha launched her first music album ‘Neha the rockstar’ with Meet Brothers. She sang romantic ballads in it.
