Raima Islam Shimu was a Bangladeshi actor, film producer, and journalist. She was brutally murdered by her husband in January 2022, and her body was found in a sack near the Hazratpur Bridge Keraniganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 17 January 2022.

In 2004, she was married to the Bangladeshi businessman Shakhawat Ali Nobel, and she had a son and a daughter.
She debuted as an actress with the Bangladeshi film ‘Bartaman’ (1997) directed by Kazi Hayat. She acted in more than 25 Bangladeshi films including ‘Minister’ (2003). She worked with many popular Bangladeshi film directors like Chashi Nazrul Islam, Delwar Jahan Jhantu, AJ Rana, Sharifuddin Khan, and Enayet Karim. Some of the famous Bangladeshi actors she worked with are Riaz, Amit Hasan, Bapparaj, Shakib Khan, Zahid Hasan, and Mosharraf Karim. In 2004, she appeared in the Bangladeshi film ‘Jamai Svasur,’ and after that, she did not appear in films.
Raima worked as an actor in various Bangladeshi TV dramas. She also worked as a film producer in many Bangladeshi TV dramas under her own production house. On 29 December 2020, she started working as a Vice President of Sales & Marketing at the TV news channel ATN Bangla. In the same year, she was appointed as the CEO of the event management company TN Events Ltd. In 2020, She started a salon in Bangladesh with the name ‘Rose Beauty Salon.’ Raima started a music production studio SR Production in Bangladesh, on 8 July 2021. In the same year, she joined Arthokotha-The National Business Magazine of Bangladesh as a journalist.
On her demise in January 2022, there were rumours that Raima had a dispute with the Bangladeshi actor Zayed Khan over his membership in the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association. Later, Khan denied the rumours and said,
I never spoke to Shimu over the phone in the last two years. All this is a conspiracy against me.”
In January 2022, she had gone for a shooting project in Mawa, Bangladesh. When she did not return home, her brother tried to call her, but she could not be contacted. Later, her family members filed a missing complaint in a local police station, and a search team of police started looking out for her in the nearby areas. On 17 January 2022, her body was found in pieces in a sack near the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, Bangladesh. After an investigation by the local police, her driver and four other people were detained in the murder case. They were arrested by the elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police ‘Rapid Action Battalion’ (RAB). While talking to the reporters, during the initial investigation process, the local police said,
Injury marks found on Raima’s body led to believe that she might have been murdered by criminals on Sunday, following which her body was dumped. Her body was then taken away in a car. We confiscated the car. The body has been sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH) for autopsy, and an investigation is underway.”
In further interrogation by the local police, her husband Shakhawat Ali Nobel, confessed that he murdered his wife, and the reason behind the murder was marital strife. Later, while talking to the police officials, Raima’s brother said,
Nobel is a drug addict. He often argued with my sister. I have seen blood in Nobel’s car. He was not at home from 8 am to 10 am on Monday, I assumed that he discarded the body during that time.”
Later, while talking to the reporters, Raima’s sister said,
I am at the police station now; Preparations are underway to file a case. After the case, I will go to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital to take my sister’s body. We have not been able to take a decision yet regarding the murder convicted by my sister’s husband or not. But we are talking.”
