Rakesh Pathak was born in the year 1965 (age 57 years; as of 2022) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. He attended Government Gorkhi Higher Secondary School in Gwalior for his primary and secondary education. Later, he got himself enrolled at the Maharani Laxmi Bai Govt. College Of Excellence, Gwalior to pursue a masters degree in Arts in Military Science. After this he also earned a masters degree in history and also studied Doctor of Philosophy from the same institution. He also attended Govt MJS PG College, Bhind for his post graduation.

Rakesh Pathak was married to Pratima Pathak, a Sanatan dharma teacher. But he lost his wife in 2015 due to cancer. He is blessed with two daughters from his first marriage. His daughter’s names are Shachi Pathak and Soumya Pathak. Shachi is a singer and song writer, where as Soumya works as a fitness trainer.

She is an Indian administration officer who was appointed as an assistant secretary in the Madhya Pradesh government’s general administration department on 25 January 2022. She is a Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer from the 2009 batch. Rakesh made the news on his social media accounts. His Facebook post is captioned as,

Today we are introducing you to our happiness and sorrow partner Miss Shailbala Martin Shailbala Martin. Shail ji is a resident of Indore. She is an IAS officer of MP cadre. Collector, Corporation Commissioner. She has played the responsibility of many important posts in the Government of MP. These days, she is posted as Additional Secretary (General Administration Department) in the Ministry of State, Vallabh Bhawan, Bhopal.  Of course I will write. Recently, in a family event, both daughters Saumya and Shachi introduced Shail to the whole family. The entire family, including the maternal grandmother of the daughters, warmly welcomed Shail to the Pathak family. We both got the blessings of the entire family including Shail’s elder brothers Vinay ji and Vinod ji. My wife Pratima had left on the journey of Anant in the year 2015 after completing the age given by nature. With his indomitable lifestyle, he fought blood cancer for five years. We are friends for the past two years and during this period it was realised we both share the same thoughts. We often used to meet during news debates. Now, we have decided to live together and therefore, we are going to marry soon.”

Career

Rakesh Pathak started his career working as a chief reporter at Lokgatha news publications from 14 January 1988 to 1 December 1988. Simultaneously he worked as a Reporter at Saandhya Samachar for this period. He then joined Acharan Gwalior in the year 1989. In 1993, he was appointed as the Editor at Navprabhat, Gwalior. After working there for almost seven years, he left the organisation and joined NaiDunia, a Hindi newspaper and a publication of Jagran Prakashan Ltd. Later in 2012, he held the position of the Editor at Pradesh Today. Since 2018, he is working as a Editor-in-Chief for Karmaveer, a Hindi magazine. working with the inspiration of the father of journalism, Madhavrao Sapre.

  •  Rakesh’s daughters also shares a warm relationship with Shailbala Martin. His daughter Soumya Pathak took to Facebook, to post a welcoming message for her fathers’ to-be wife. Sharing a picture of his father and Shailbala , she wrote,

  • Apart from being a journalist, Rakesh Pathak is also an author and a poet. He often post his own written poetry through social media platforms. A small piece of his poem is as follows,

  • Rakesh Pathak also mentioned in his social media post that Shailbala aso posses some great writing skills. Parsing her writings, he said,

    Apart from being a diligent and sensitive administrator, Shail also writes occasionally. His series ‘Aami Ek Jazabor’ (Main Ek Yayawar) can be read on his Facebook wall. In this, they see and record the world around them from a different perspective. If she continues to write like this, then in future her book will come with the same title.”
