Biography/Wiki

Rita Bhaduri was a 62-years-old (born on 4 November 1955) Indian actress from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She was born to the yesteryear supporting role actress, Chandrima Bhaduri, who inspired to become an actress.

She learned acting skills from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where her batchmate was Zarina Wahab, an actress, and wife of Aditya Pancholi. Initially, she featured in many Bollywood, Gujarati, and other regional films as a supporting actress during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Thereafter, she shifted her focus to the world of television and became a household name by portraying the roles of mother or grandmother in various TV shows.

Family & Caste

She hailed from a middle-class Hindu-Bengali Brahmin family. She remained unmarried, but there was a rumour about her relationship with Navin Nischol.

Career

Rita Bhaduri always wanted to become an actress. She began her acting career in the late 1960s, after which she opted for an acting course from the renowned Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. After passing out from the FTTI, she didn’t have to struggle as she instantly got supporting roles in films. She acted in many Gujarati and films in other regional languages as well as Bollywood films such as Julie, Virasat, Raja, Hero No 1, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Kya Kehna, and Beta.

She was nominated in the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Raja (1995), starring Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Kapoor. She always believed that Bollywood is a male-dominated industry, and that’s why she gradually shifted her focus from films to television, to get better roles. In the TV world, she was mainly popular for playing elderly roles. Her most notable TV serials include Chunauti, Amaanat, Kumkum, Choti Bahu, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai,  Hudd Kar Di, Khichdi, and Nimki Mukhiya, which was her last serial.

Death

She had been suffering from the kidney ailment for a long time and was being treated at Mumbai’s Sujay Hospital in Vile Parle. On 17 July 2018, at around 1:45 pm, she took her last breath following a cardiac arrest.
