Simone Tata is an Indian businesswoman. She is the lady behind India’s first makeup brand Lakme. She joined Lakme in its early years and is still titled for its initial success. She is a senior member of the Tata family and the founder of Tata’s successful venture, Trent.

She came on a trip to India in 1953 and that is when she met Naval Tata. They both got married in 1955 and settled down in Mumbai, India. In 1957, they had a son and named him Noel Tata. She was the second wife of Naval Tata and Ratan Tata and Jimmy Tata are her stepsons.
Career
She began her career in India by joining the Board of Lakme Ltd. in 1961. With her hard work and dedication, she became the Managing Director of Lakme in 1964. After devoting 18 years to work, she finally became the Board Chairman in 1982. It was her efforts that made Lakme the leading cosmetic company in India. After proving her capabilities at Lakme, she was also appointed as the Director of Tata Industries Ltd. which is the largest private-sector conglomerate in Asia. She headed this conglomerate that has over ninety-one companies in various sectors. In 1996, she sold it to Hindustan Lever Limited. After that, she founded another company, Trent which runs department stores known by the name of Westside. She commenced Westside with a single store in Banglore in 1998 and now the brand has over two hundred outlets in major cities of India and houses over 22 labels all crafted in-house. In addition to her contribution to Tata’s business activities, she also remained connected with social organisations and initiated philanthropical works. She also served as the Chairman of Sir Ratan Tata Institute after her husband, Naval Tata. She is also one of the founder trustees of the Children of the World India Trust.
