Family
Umar Riaz was born in a middle-class Muslim family. [3] [4] His father, Riaz Ahmed Choudhary, is a politician and special secretary (retired) to the government of Jammu and Kashmir, India. His mother’s name is Shabnam Naz. He has two siblings. His sister, Mahvish Choudhary, works at the department of education. His younger brother, Asim Riaz, is a model and actor.

Relationships/Affairs
Earlier, he was in a relationship with the Indian television actress Sonal Vengurlekar. [5] During an interview, while talking about Umar, Sonal said,
I know Asim and Umar very closely. In fact, Umar and I have dated in past. I met him at a party last year around March. We were in four to five months of relationship but soon I realized that I was playing a mere catalyst for Umar’s fame hence decided to part ways.”

Career
After completing his MBBS and MS, he started working as a clinical assistant at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, Maharashtra, in 2018. He started working as a Senior Registrar (General Surgery) in 2020.
Apart from working as a surgeon, he is into modelling. He has worked as a model with many ace fashion photographers. He came into the limelight after his younger brother Asim Riaz participated in the TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss 13.’ Umar appeared as a guest in Bigg Boss 15 in various episodes. In 2021, he appeared in a few Hindi music videos like ‘Gunaah Karde’ by Dipesh Agarwal, ‘Sky High’ by Asim Riaz, and ‘Befikar Raho’ by Jugni In.
He was roped in the 15th season of the TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ as one of the contestants in 2021.
Controversy
In an interview, his ex-girlfriend Sonal Vengurlekar accused Umar of misusing her money. [6] She said,
He once visited my sets and didn’t even have money to pay the cab driver and I had to take money from make-up dada and pay the driver. In fact, after we broke up, he still had access to my OTT platforms subscription and Zomato and used to make online orders using my money. Finally, I had to delete my Zomato account after I was left with no option. All I want to say is before you point a finger at someone make sure your image is clean enough.”
