Career
First-class career
Virat Singh has been playing cricket since his childhood. He broke into Jharkhand U-19 team at the age of 16 and played his maiden first-class match in Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2014. He scored his first maiden first-class century the same year in December during a match against Kerela.

IPL Career
Owing to his domestic level performances, he was fetched by Surisers Hyderabad for INR 1.90 crore, while his base price was 20 lakh, and is all set to make his Indian premier league debut in the IPL 2020.
Facts & Trivia
- When Virat was in the fifth grade, his exam results were very bad; his father Vinod Singh took his bat in annoyance and locked it in a storeroom. After this Virat’s coach V. Venkataram reached his house and talked to his father. His coach said, “Your son has a lot of talent, leave him to me.” Only two years after that Virat started playing at the district level and performed well, consequently, he was selected in the Jharkhand Under-16 team.
- The left-hander played for Jharkhand Under-16 under the captaincy of his brother Vishal when he was just 13 years old.
- Virat and his brother used to practice cricket in the lawn of their house. Virat’s father was fed up with the smashed windowpanes in his house and decided to admit his sons to the open Jharkhand Cricket Academy.
