She did her schooling at Chandigarh’s St Xavier’s School and went to DAV College to pursue her graduation. She was inclined towards acting right from her childhood. At the age of 8, she started her acting career as a child artist in the Punjabi TV serial “Saude Dillan De.” Subsequently, she participated in a dance show which was judged by Aamir Khan and while she was doing the show, Wamiqa was offered a role in Jab We Met. She, then, did small roles in Hindi films, Love Aaj Kal and Bittoo Boss. Wamiqa has also received training in classical dancing and is a trained Kathak Dancer.

Career
Wamiqa started her acting career as a lead actress in 2013 with the Punjabi film “Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22.” In the same year, she made her acting debut in Hindi Films by playing the role of Tanisha in the film “Sixteen.” Subsequently, she made her acting debut in Tamil films with Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam; debut in Telugu films with Bhale Manchi Roju; and debut in Malayalam films with “Godha.”

In 2017, she featured in the Punjabi song “Angreji Wali Madam” and earned wide popularity with her performance. She has also featured in Punjabi films like ” Ishq Brandy, Ishq Haazir Hai, and Nikka Zaildar.
In 2019, she appeared in the Punjabi film “Dil Diyan Gallan” opposite Parmish Verma.
