Dhanya Mary Varghese began working as a junior artist in films and a background dancer. In 2003, she first appeared in the song Thottuvilichalo of the film Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam as a background dancer. She made her acting debut in 2006 with the Tamil film Thirudi. Her debut Malayalam film as a lead actress was Nanma, which was released in 2007, and Sharath Chandran Wayanad was the director of this film. She then appeared in the film Thalappavu in 2008, and her role in the film was highly appreciated by the critics. Later, she worked in several Malayalam films such as Vairam: Fight For Justice, Kerala Cafe, Thirudi, Veeramum Eeramum, and Nayakan.
