Jacqueline was born on 11 August 1985 in Manama, Bahrain. Her hometown is in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her friends and family members call her with the name Jacky. At a very young age, she decided to become the part of the Hollywood industry. She never thought initially about becoming the part of the Bollywood industry. While she was in India in 2009 for her modelling assignment, she tried her hands in Bollywood and gave audition for the film Aladin. At that time, she didn’t know how to speak Hindi. For the audition, her flat broker helped her and taught her Hindi. Fortunately, she got selected for the lead role in that film, opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh.

Career
She did her schooling at Sacred Heart School, Bahrain and did her graduation in Mass Communication at University of Sydney, Australia. At the age of 14, Jacqueline hosted her first television show. She took part in many beauty pageants. Before joining the modelling industry, JacJacqueline worked as a TV reporter in Sri Lanka for a few years. She later joined the Berlitz School of Languages to learn Spanish, French, and Arabic.

In 2006, she won the title of Miss Sri Lanka. In the same year, she made her appearance in a music video O Sathi by Bathiya and Santhush. After that, she went to India and joined the entertainment industry. Jacqueline got training in acting from John School of Acting. Controversies
Dishoom Song Controversy
In 2016, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee (DSGMC) protested the use of Kirpan that she wore in a song Sau Tarah Ke of the film Dishoom. Later, Varun Dhawan and John Abraham cleared that it was an Arabian Dagger, not a Kirpan.

Conman Sukesh Money Laundering Case
On 20 October 2021, she appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), where she was questioned in connection with an over Rs 200 crore money laundering case filed against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar. Earlier, the actress had skipped at least three summons. [1] On 5 December 2021, she was stopped by the ED officials at the Mumbai airport when she was heading to Dubai for a show. She was stopped for some questioning after the ED had issued a LOC (Look Out Circular) against her in regards to the Sukesh Chandrashekar case with who she had alleged financial transactions. Reportedly, the alleged conman had gifted her a horse worth Rs. 52 lakhs and a Persian cat worth Rs. 9 lakhs, and the total gifts that she had received from Sukesh amounted to Rs. 10 crores. [2] As per the chargesheet filed by the ED, Jacqueline did not take interest in talking to Sukesh, so he called her from the home ministry headed by Amit Shah, and he posed himself as a high-ranking official of the ministry. Reportedly, Sukesh used this tactic after Fernandez declined to talk to him when he tried to contact her through her make-up artist. The ED claimed that in a ‘spoof-call’ that he made to the actress, Sukesh posed himself as a “very important person in the Government,” and he also claimed that he belonged to Jayalalithaa’s political party and was the owner of Sun TV…” According to the ED, the actress remained in contact with Sukesh till his arrest during which he “provided various gifts to her and her family members, arranged chartered flights for her to fly within India and her hotel stay, made payments in cash to a script writer on (her) behalf… All these expenses/payments were made by Sukesh Chandrashekhar out of proceeds of crime acquired through criminal activities related to a scheduled offence.” When Jacqueline Fernandez was interrogated by the ED, she admitted that she “received gifts viz three Gucci and Chanel designer bags, two Gucci outfits for gym wear, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multi-coloured stones, and two Hermes bracelets. She also received a Mini Cooper, which she returned.” [3] In April 2022, the ED attached assets worth Rs. 7.27 crore that belonged to Jacqueline Fernandez. According to the ED, the actress received gifts worth Rs. 5.71 crore from conman Sukesh. [4]
