The CBI filed more than 11 chargesheets against Reddy, and he was arrested on 27 May 2012. He was released in September 2013 and was removed as the Leader of the Opposition.
• On 5 August 2017, he called the former Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu a Mukhyakantri (Chief Looter), and said that it would be nothing wrong if he was shot down in the middle of the road. Many people criticized his statement as the area he said this in was a very sensitive one and was known to have riots and clashes regularly. TDP leader Mallela Rajshekhar filed a police complaint against Jaganmohan for his remarks and for provoking the people. • On 25 October 2017, while Reddy was at the Vishakhapatnam Airport, a person from the food court came up to him to take a selfie. While taking the selfie, he slashed Reddy’s left hand with a knife. He was arrested and took in for questioning. The accused was identified as J Srinivas Rao. • On 26 May 2018, he was on a padayatra (foot march) in the West Godavari District. There he announced that he will rename the district as Alluri Sitarama Raju District; as the rebellion of freedom fighter, Sitarama Raju, is not given much acknowledgement. The TDP blamed Reddy of making such statements to appeal the Kshatriya (Raju) Community; which is dominant in the West Godavari. |
