Career
Shailbala cleared the IAS examination in 2009. In 2014, Shailbala was posted as the additional director (administration) health department, Madhya Pradesh. She was appointed as the CEO of MP Interstate Transport Authority and Deputy Secretary, Planning and Economic Statistics in 2017.

In April 2022, Shailbala martin got engaged to Rakesh Pathak, a senior journalist. She is one year younger than Rakesh Pathak, who is a father of two daughters. His first wife died in 2015 due to blood cancer. In 2020, Shailbala and Rakesh fell in love during a news debate. She was impressed by Rakesh’s intelligence. Soon after the news debate show, they often started meeting each other. In April 2022, they got engaged and decided to get married. In one of his Facebook posts, Rakesh Pathak announced his engagement with Shailbala Martin. He wrote,
We are friends for the past two years and during this period it was realised we both share the same thoughts. We often used to meet during news debates. Now, we have decided to live together and therefore, we are going to marry soon. Apart from serving as senior IAS officer, Shailbala also writes occasionally.”
In the same post, he continued writing that during a family get-together, his two daughters, Saumya and Sachi, introduced Shailbala to his family members and their relationship was happily accepted by his family members. He wrote,
Miss Shailbala Martin, the companion of happiness and sorrow. Shail is a resident of Indore. She is an IAS officer of MP cadre. Collector and Corporation Commissioner. She has held many important positions in the state government.”
