Vicente Fernandez or Vicente Fernandez Gomez was a Mexican singer, film producer, and actorby profession. He is nicknamed “Chente” (short for Vicente), “El Charro de Huentitán” (The Charro from Huentitán), “El Idol de México” (The Idol of Mexico), and “El Rey de la Msica Ranchera” (The King of Ranchera Music).
Vicente Fernandez began his career as a busker and has since established himself as a cultural icon, having recorded over 50 albums and appearing in over 30 films. Rancheras and other Mexican standards comprised the bulk of his repertoire.
