Controversy • On 28 November 2020, A women named Hamiza Mukhtar filed several charges against Babar Azam. These charges were related to sexual abuse, coercion and false promises of marriage. She had filed a police complaint against Babar at the Nasirabad station in 2017. Hamiza Mukhtar claimed that they were school fellows and used to live in the same localities, and Babar exploited her for 10 years, both physically and sexually. The petition was filed in a session court in Lahore by her. The court asked the Federal Agency Cyber Crime Cell to file an FIR against Babar. On 15 January 2021, Hamiza Mukhtar dropped her case and told that the allegation made against Babar were false.[6]

  • Babar Azam is Pakistani top-order batsmen who captain the Pakistan international cricket team in all formats. He is often considered as one of Pakistan’s best batsman by many cricket pundits and enthusiasts, and rightly so.
  • Babar Azam began his journey in Lahore, playing age-group cricket under the watchful eyes of his coach Mansoor Hameed who used to train him at YuSlim cricket club. In an interview, Mansoor Hameed recalls the Babar’s time at the club during his budding years. He told-:Babar was a very shy kid when he came to our club. He initially struggled for two months when he joined the club as he was still adjusting. But once he got settled, then it was impossible to get him out. He followed this approach from grassroots and is still following the same hard work and work routine,”
  • Babar Azam used to leave his house at 10 am to train along with his two cousins and a friend to Model Town Park in Lahore that took an hour to reach by feet. Babar used to set up practice nets and trained hard in the park.

  • In 2007, Babar Azam made a cameo in a live broadcast Test match between Pakistan and South. During the 42nd over of South Africa’s innings, Babar caught a brilliant catch that was hit for six by JP Duminy as a ball boy and earned plaudits from match commentator Ian Bishop for his catch.

  • Babar Azam first featured on the International cricket scene at the age of 14 in ICC under-15 world championship in 2008. Babar played a spectacular knock against America U-15, where he scored 165 runs of 140 balls that included 15 boundaries and 2 sixes. He was the top run-scorer for his side in the respective competition.
  • Babar Azam has also played two ICC Under-19 world championships for Pakistan, where he was the top scorer for his team.   • Babar Azam had a memorable World Cup in terms of his form, where he created history by scoring 473 runs at an average of 67.61 to break Javed Miandad record for the most runs by a Pakistan batsman in a Cricket World Cup campaign.
