Dinesh Mangaluru or Dinesh Mangalore is an Indian film actor and art director, who predominantly works in the Kannada film industry. He is known for appearing in the popular pan-India film sequels K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022) as Shetty.

Career

As an Actor

In 1988, Dinesh Mangaluru made his film debut with the Kannada-language political drama film ‘Aasphota.’ The film won numerous awards including the Best Film award at the 36th Filmfare Awards South.

Thereafter, he appeared in the Kannada-language films Nagamandala (1996), Z (1999), and Smile (1999). He appeared in the 2007 Kannada language crime drama film ‘Aa Dinagalu’ as Seetharam Shetty. Set in the 1980s Bangalore underworld, the film centres around the business magnate Chetan who struggles to save his love, Mallika, from his conspiring father. Chetan’s father. He hires the underworld don Kotwal Ramachandra to handle the case. In the film, Seetharam Shetty is the right hand of Kotwal.

Aa Dinagalu (2007)

In 2013, he appeared in the Kannada-language biographical film ‘Attahasa,’ based on Indian bandit-turned-domestic terrorist Veerappan, who kidnapped politicians for ransom. In the film, Mangaluru played the role of Minister Nagappa, one of the politicians abducted by the forest brigand Veerappan.

In the 2014 Kannada neo-noir crime drama anthology film ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe,’ Mangaluru played the role of Shankar Poojary, a local gangster-cum-businessman.

He played the role of Kulkarni, an MLA of Maharashtra’s ruling party, in the 2015 Kannada-language action thriller film ‘Rana Vikrama.’

Other Kannada films in which he appeared include Ricky (2016), Kirik Party (2016), and Days of Borapura (2018). He rose to prominence with the pan-India period action film sequels K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022) in which he played the role of Shetty. The film follows a young man named Rocky, who seeks power and wealth in order to fulfil a promise to his dying mother. In the film, Rocky, on his quest for power and wealth arrives in Bombay, where he works for Shetty, a prominent gold smuggler.

Later, he was cast in the Kannada film ‘Senapura’ in which he shared the screen with his son, Surya Siddhartha.

He worked as an art director for the 1999 Kannada-language film ‘Chandramukhi Pranasakhi.’
